Part 1. Why the Mods?

Strange but i have always wanted a Rover 75, or an MG ZT. Why? not sure but love the shape, Since they first came out I have a Mitsubishi Gallant, a Peugeot 306, 2 BMW's a VW Passat, but have always wanted the 75 or ZT if not as a main car but as a second car to enjoy. As it happened, I bought a 75 CDTi which suits my commute to work very well. Initially wanted to keep the BMW 330i but having 2 cars just wasn't financially savvy especially in the current economic climate. Actually I could have got a ZT in Grey the colour i wanted but the car was in Scotland, where as the 75 connie was in North Yorkshire. So the Connie was mine! I remember the long drive back to London. Although my car was the Connoisseur model apart from the leather interior it is quite basic. Seriously a crappy stereo, no Cruise, only 16 inch alloys, no Front Fogs, not sure if the car has traction control! But I still love it!

So why mod a car that I love? I mean i never modified the BMW 330i (apart from the head unit) or the BMW 323i coupe (forget the other cars, i try to but they do haunt me)

Part of the answer is in the first paragraph, I love the car but its equipped as poorly as Del Boy's Robin Reliant. The other part is that the 75 does make me look a lot older than i am, i forgot to mention me actively looking for a Boxster or 911 in the months leading up to getting the 75. In hindsight i should have bought either the ZT from Scotland or the 75 Contemporary in Kent which although was a grand dearer had a sexier look to it.

Ok so what do i need, how much will it cost and how will i fit the bloody things!

The list can be endless, but although i need to improve the looks of the car, i don't want to spend more than i need to on a car worth £4k-5k.

For a start, there's the alloys, my current set do look too small for the car and really need an upgrading. I have seen a nice set of 18's which will help the looks, although i do believe the ride will suffer a bit.

HIDS, the HID upgrade is being planned and although I have installation issues currently i hope to get them sorted really soon.

LED Day running lights, seen a lovely set but need to get the right sizes and also confirm where i want to put them.

LED bulb upgrade, ordered and waiting for them to arrive. LED bulbs have a good life span and although pricey initially they will save me money in the medium to long term. The lights are brighter and crisper, use less power and also last longer.

The rear light cluster, I am saving up for it as this will change the way the car looks from the rear. Also as my 75 is a dark blue, the cluster will really suit it.

That awful head unit has to go. From the same place I ordered the LED bulb pack and the Rear cluster, I am saving up for the Head unit. Complete with GPS, DVD, Ipod/IPhone/MP3 player connectivity. Add a Digital tuner and I wont have to miss Eastenders whilst driving again!

Reverse camera or rear park sensor? not sure which. Cost is similar I believe the fitting seems easier on the camera though.

Door finishers, this to protect the doors from scratching under the door handle. Ordered waiting for delivery and then will install when they arrive.

I think the final mod in terms of cosmetics, is the exhaust. Dream Pipe would be a Stainless steel custom built pipe system that will wont look out of place but still look good.

With regards to the fitting and installations I have used and will carry on using the excellent guides found on the ZT and 75 forum and the MG Rover forum, during each installation phase a link to their guides will be given.
